The End

As for now, real life is too busy to blog. I am going to focus on it and if things slow down again, I will return to blogging land! It was fun 🙂

4th of July!

I took a little hiatus from blogging because.. well.. real life has been a lot more fun! And the fun continues because I’m on my way to Florida! So my next update I will be when I get back!

First up, the 4th of July.

I LOVE the 4th of July. When I was a kid, my family went to my dad’s boss’s house and had a big cookout complete with blueberry pie, bananas foster, and as many sparklers as we wanted.

When I was in high school, my little town had a mini carnival at the park. My best friend, Em, lived right across from it so we’d alternate swimming and carnivaling the entire day.

THIS 4th of July was one of the very best! I started off the day by walking in a 5K, took my boyfriend’s daughter and another little girl to the town parade, to a dog costume contest, to a petting zoo, and then I went to a cook out and pool party. The night ended with my boyfriend’s family at the park watching the fireworks. It was simple and easy and fun.

Let me know what you did in the comments!

Color Combo

I wore this blue floral dress to the zoo a few weeks ago and couldn’t stop staring at the bright purply-pink against the blue! I loved it! I’m always so reluctant to mix colors, but every time I do I love it! photo 1What do you think?

Picture Wall Project

Yesterday I shared the room makeover I made. I didn’t include that I made a new picture wall for the room!

It was very easy – I bought a bunch of cheap picture frames at Dollar Tree (NOT General – at Dollar TREE every single thing is $1 but at Dollar General NOT everything is $1.. it’s actually comparable prices to Walgreens or Wal-Mart). I also bought a can of spray paint. If I were to do the project again, I’d buy two cans of spray paint, but oh well, it did still turn out well.

Use gloves! I didn’t realize that spray paint is still really messy. I ruined a fresh manicure

The can said it would take 10 minutes to dry, but it DEFINITELY took overnight.

Thank you, Matthew for nailing all of the pictures up! Finished project. 🙂

Room Makeover

My boyfriend’s daughter’s room was hideous. It had brown wood paneling, NO shelves and NO storage so all her toys were in these huge pink bins. It was not cute, it was hard for her to play in, and it desperately needed a makeover.

So, I painted it! She was very helpful during the entire process and I was pleasantly surprised that at 4 years old she did a significant amount of the painting! Girl power!

Matt was great and brought up the bookshelf and screwed it into the wall when I was ready for the organizing portion. I’m so excited about the results!

She loved it, but I was a little nervous when she kept asking if the “gorgeous brown” would come back in  a few days. Um.. no. She also said that “Daddy will love our beautiful picture” referring to the plain white paint. Luckily, he did love our beautiful “picture” and she also loves her new room and asks anybody who comes over if they want to go see it. Yay!

Hair… I Love to Hate It

The picture below is my hair in its natural state. No product, no brushing, just washed, conditioned, towel and air dried. It’s a tad frizzier and scraggly than I’d like.

So, I bought Organix coconut milk shampoo and conditioner, having read that coconut milk is great for hair. Behold the results:image copy 8
Again, it was not brushed, styled, no product, anything! I think it’s much more manageable now. PLUS it smells so great!

Obviously, I don’t know if the organix brand will work for you, but I was so excited about my results that I wanted to share!
